With the success of the Gurmat Camp in 2008 the Akaal Organisation planned a
second camp that ran over two consecutive days (13th and 14th April) to
commemorate the 310th anniversary of the birth of the Khalsa Panth. Over one
hundred children between the ages of 8 and 16 took part in various lectures,
workshops and fun learning activities delivered within the context of Sikhi.
The key theme of the event was the celebration of Vasakhi and children
learned, amongst other things, about the early life of Guru Gobind Singh Ji
as well as the significance behind the names of the Panj Piyare.
Fun learning activities included a Treasure Hunt where children had to
locate various places within the Gurdwara and solve riddles in order to
receive clues to the whereabouts of buried treasure!
Children also played
dodge ball and had fun on the bouncing castles.
At specific times over the two days children were served a delicious langar
of pizza, pasta and chips.
These were two very successful days where children learned about Sikhi and
enjoyed themselves immensely.
The Akaal Organisation looks forward to receiving your support to organise
future events.
